(EN)Method for forming strands (16, 18) into twisted strand units having a twist direction that reverses from section to section wherein the strands are advanced side-by-side successively through first and second mutually spaced twister heads (30, 32). The strands are formed into twisted strand units by the steps of operating the twister heads simultaneously by revolving the twister heads in a common rotary direction (36, 36) about the strands at substantially the same speed of head revolution thereby causing a first progression of twists (A) of one lay direction to pass from the first twister head (30) towards the second twister head (32), and a second progression of twists (C) of opposite direction lay to eminate from the second twister head. Twisting operations by the first and second twister heads are simultaneously terminated as the leading end of the first progression of twists reaches the second twister head and a trailing end of the second progressing of twists eminating therefrom. Twisting operations of the first and second twister heads are then suspended until a trailing end (B) of the first progression of twists reaches the second twister head (Fig. 4) whereupon the foregoing steps are repeated.
(FR)Procede de preparation de torons (16, 18) en unites de torons retordus ayant une direction de torsion qui se renverse de section a section dans lequel les torons progressent l"un a cote de l"autre successivement a travers une premiere et une seconde tete de torsion mutuellement espacees (30, 32). Les torons sont formes en unites de torons retordus par les etapes de mise en fonctionnement des tetes de torsion simultanement en faisant tourner les tetes de torsion dans une direction commune de rotation (36, 36) autour des torons avec sensiblement la meme vitesse de revolution de tete provoquant ainsi une premiere progression de torsades (A) d"une direction de couche depuis la premiere tete de torsion (30) vers la seconde tete de torsion (32) et une seconde progression de torsades (C) de direction de couches opposees de progresser depuis la seconde tete de torsion. Les operations de torsion par la premiere et la seconde tete de torsion sont simultanement terminees lorsque l"extremite conductrice de la premiere progression de torsades atteint la seconde tete de torsion et qu"une extremite de traine de la seconde progression de torsades en provient. Les operations de torsion de la premiere et de la seconde tete de torsion sont alors suspendues jusqu"a ce qu"une extremite de traine (B) de la premiere progression de torsades atteigne la seconde tete de torsion (Fig. 4) apres quoi les etapes precedentes sont repetees.
