(EN)Process for preparing vinyl dispersion resins by conducting the polymerization reaction of the vinyl monomer or monomers in an aqueous alkaline medium, using an oil-soluble polymerization initiator, at low temperatures, in the presence of an emulsifier system comprising the ammonium salt of a high fatty acid containing 8 to 20 carbon atoms and at least one long straight chain alcohol containing from 14 to 24 carbon atoms, and in the presence of an electrolyte, such as for example, ammonium carbonate ((NH4)2CO3), and wherein the reaction ingredients are thoroughly mixed, and preferably homogenized, prior to polymerization. The aqueous emulsion of the polymer (s) so produced are capable of being tray dried into friable aggregates of individual spheres of polymer particles. The tray dried resin can easily be formulated into plastisols of high North Fineness and high gloss. In addition, polymer buildup in the reactor is reduced.
(FR)Procede de preparation de resines de dispersion vinyliques par la conduite de la polymerisation du (des) monomere(s) vinylique(s) en milieu aqueux alcalin, en utilisant un initiateur de polymerisation soluble dans l"huile, a basse temperature, en presence d"un systeme emulsifiant comprenant le sel d"ammonium d"un acide gras eleve contenant 8 a 20 atomes de carbone et un alcool a longue chaine droite possedant de 14 a 24 atomes de carbone, et en presence d"un electrolyte, tel que, par exemple le carbonate d"ammonium (NH4)2CO3) et dans lequel les composants sont melanges minutieusement et, de preference, homogeneises, avant la polymerisation. L"emulsion aqueuse du (des) polymere(s) ainsi produite se prete au sechage en bac en agregats friables de spheres individuelles de particules de polymere. La resine sechee en bac peut aisement etre formulee en plastisols de haute finesse Nord et haute brillance. De plus la contamination en polymere du reacteur est reduite.
