(EN)In the field of brakes, adjusters are required to maintain a constant clearance between engaging parts, even upon wear. The problem with known brake adjusters is that they introduce frictional forces by their adjustment technique which are variable and an undesirably large percentage of the brake application force. The adjuster of this application draws a broach (42) through a tube (28) thereby eliminating the above noted problem. A casing (16) is fixedly secured to a brake housing (14) and receives therein a spring follower (20). Engaged within the spring follower (20) is a tubular member (28). Passing through the tubular member (28) is a shaft (30) which is fixedly secured to a pressure plate (12) and maintains a multi-sided broach (42) on one end. The broach (42) has contacting engagement with the interior surface of the tube (28) and upon successive brake applications, cuts portions of the inner wall of the tube (28) allowing the shaft (30) to telescope from the casing (16).
(FR)Dans le domaine des freins, des reglages sont necessaires pour maintenir un espacement constant entre parties cooperantes, meme apres usure. Le probleme avec les reglages de freins connus reside dans le fait qu"ils introduisent des forces de friction du fait de leur technique meme qui sont variables et representent un fort pourcentage indesirable de la force d"application du freinage. Le reglage tire une broche (42) au travers d"un tube (28) eliminant ainsi le probleme cite ci-dessus. Un chemisage (16) est fixe solidement a un bati de frein (14) et recoit a l"interieur un chapeau a ressort (20). S"engageant a l"interieur du chapeau a ressort prend place une piece tubulaire (28). Au travers de la piece tubulaire (28) passe un axe (30) qui est solidement fixe a une plaque de pression (12) et qui maintient, a une extremite une broche a plusieurs cotes (42). Cette broche (42) est en contact avec la surface interieure du tube (28) et lors d"applications successives du freinage decoupe des portions de la paroi interne du tube (28), permettant a l"axe (30) de s"emboiter a partir du chemisage (16).
