Abstract

An oxygen sensor comprising a tubular member (24) of thick film of a transition metal oxide and two electrode thick films (14), these films being provided on the exterior of a ceramic shaft, as well as a protection layer covering said films. One electrode of the sensing element is connected to the tubular member, while the other electrode is electrically isolated from the tubular member and connected to lead wires (64, 66). This oxygen sensor strongly resists mechanical shock and vibration and hence is quite suitable for detecting the amount of oxygen in automotive exhaust gas.

Un detecteur d"oxygene comprend un membre tubulaire (24) de metal ayant un event (32); dans le membre tubulaire est loge un element detecteur (10) consistant en une pellicule epaisse poreuse d"un oxyde d"un metal de transition et deux pellicules epaisses d"electrode (14), ces pellicules etant prevues a l"exterieur d"un arbre ceramique, ainsi qu"une couche de protection recouvrant lesdites pellicules. Une electrode de l"element detecteur est connectee au membre tubulaire, tandis que l"autre electrode est electriquement isolee des membres tubulaires et connectee a des fils conducteurs (64, 66). Ce detecteur d"oxygene resiste aux chocs mecaniques et aux vibrations et se prete donc particulierement bien a la detection d"oxygene dans les gaz d"echappement d"automobiles.
