(EN)The device comprises a housing (1) provided with a transparent window (5) divided into two compartments (2 and 3) by a hydrogen ion exchange membrane (4). A type photo sensitive semi conductor electrode (6) is arranged in the compartment (2), while a counter electrode (7) is arranged into the other compartment (3). The compartment (2) is filled with a first acid aqueous electrolyte 2" containing a dissolved inorganic redox couple N (n+1) +/Nn+ selected so that the Nn+ element is photosensitive, while the compartment (3) is filled with a second aqueous electrolyte (3"). The irradiation of the compartment (2) by electromagnetic radiant energy generates gaseous hydrogen into the compartment (2) and gaseous oxygen into the compartment (3) when the electrodes (6 and 7) are short circuited, or in the contrary generate electrical energy when these electrodes are connected by an outer charge (the hydrogen been then recirculated). Application to solar energy is particular.
(FR)Le dispositif comprend une enceinte (1) munie d"une fenetre transparente (5), divisee en deux compartiments (2) et (3) par une membrane (4) echangeuse d"ions hydrogene. Dans le compartiment (2) se trouve disposee une electrode (6) semi-conductrice photosensible de type p, cependant que dans l"autre compartiment (3) se trouve disposee une contre-electrode (7). Le compartiment (2) est rempli par un premier electrolyte aqueux acide (2") contenant un couple redox inorganique dissous M(n+1)+/Mn+ choisi de facon que l"element Mn+ soit photosensible, cependant que le compartiment (3) est rempli par un second electrolyte aqueux (3"). L"irradiation du compartiment (2) par de l"energie rayonnante electromagnetique donne lieu a la production d"hydrogene gazeux dans le compartiment (2) et d"oxygene gazeux dans le compartiment (3) lorsque les electrodes (6) et (7) sont mises en court-circuit, ou au contraire a la production d"energie electrique lorsque ces electrodes sont reliees par une charge externe (l"hydrogene etant alors recircule).
