Abstract:
(EN) The addition of controlled amounts of Al2O3 to high purity Si3N4 powder (containing less than 0.1 weight percent cation impurities and containing Y2O3 as a densifying additive) enables shorter sintering times to achieve polycrystalline Si3N4 bodies having densities approaching theoretical density, while a postsintering crystallization heat treatment results in strengths at high temperatures not otherwise obtainable in the presence of Al2O3. Resulting Si3N4 bodies are useful as engine parts and components or a regenerator or recuperator structures for waste heat recovery. In addition, such Si3N4 bodies containing Al2O3 exhibit good oxidation resistance.
(FR) L"addition de quantites mesurees d"Al2O3 dans de la poudre de Si3N4 a haute purete (contenant moins de 0,1% en poids de cations d"impuretes et contenant Y2O3 en tant qu"additif de densification) permet d"ecourter les temps de frittage pour obtenir des corps de Si3N4 polycristallin ayant des densites approchant la densite theorique, et un traitement thermique de cristallisation apres frittage permet d"obtenir des resistances a temperature elevee qui ne pourraient etre obtenues en presence d"Al2O3. Les corps en Si3N4 obtenus sont utiles pour la fabrication de pieces et composants de moteurs ou pour des regenerateurs ou recuperateurs de chaleur perdue. De plus, de tels corps en Si3N4 possedent une bonne resistance a l"oxydation.
