(EN)A composite cord for reinforcing a tire or other elastomeric article having at least one high strength, substantially inextensible yarn spirally wrapped around a core. The core at room temperature has sufficient strength and elasticity to resist and recover from tension forces on the core required during the processing of the cord and building of the tire. The core is composed of material which loses its tensile strength when subjected to temperatures of vulcanization to permit stretching out of the yarn to allow for substantial elongation of a part or all of the tire and then provide reinforcement of the elongated tire by the stretched out high strength yarn.
(FR)Un cordon composite pour renforcer un pneu ou autre article elastomere possede au moins un fil sensiblement inextensible a haute resistance enroule autour d"un noyau. Le noyau a temperature ambiante possede une resistance et une elasticite suffisantes pour resister aux forces de tension appliquees pendant le traitement du cordon et la construction du pneu. Le noyau est compose d"un materiau qui perd sa resistance a la traction lorsqu"il est soumis a des temperatures de vulcanisation pour permettre l"etirement du fil et donc l"elongation sensible d"une partie ou de la totalite du pneu et par consequent obtenir du pneu allonge par le fil de haute resistance etire.
