Abstract

A battery separator having a low electrical resistance after extended use is made by thermal consolidation and thermal embossing of a paper web (13) including one or more plies formed from a furnish containing a synthetic pulp the fibrils of which contain an inorganic filler, the web incorporating a wetting agent which is preferably an organic sulphonate, an organic succinate, or a phenol ethoxylate.

Un separateur pour batterie ayant une faible resistance electrique apres une utilisation prolongee est fabrique par consolidation et gaufrage thermique d"un tissu en papier (13) comprenant un ou plusieurs plis formes a partir de matieres premieres contenant une pate synthetique dont les fibres contiennent un materiau de remplissage inorganique, le tissu comprenant un agent de mouillage qui est, de preference un sulfonate organique, un succinate organique ou un phenol ethoxylate.
