Abstract:
(EN) A method of and an apparatus for marking metal objects, especially metal billets at high temperature. The marking will enable selective identification of the object in question. A marking head (3) is utilized, having at least one electrode (4) for providing characters built up in a matrix form on the object (1) by means of an electric arc process. The characters consist of matrix parts in the form of welded-on projections, in which case a consumable electrode is utilized preferably in conjunction with the principles for gas metal arc welding, or alternatively of matrix parts in the form of recesses, in which case a non-consumable electrode is utilized, preferably in conjunction with the principles for plasma are cutting. The marking head (3) preferably comprises a sequence of electrodes (4) which are activated selectively in conjunction with relative displacement between the marking head and the metal object (1) to provide the desired character matrix parts. By sensing that necessary electrode current has been consumed in conjunction with an activation of an electrode, a confirmation can be obtained that the desired character matrix part has actually been provided.
(FR) Procede et appareil de marquage d"objets metalliques, en particulier des billettes metalliques a haute temperature. Le marquage permettra d"identifier l"objet en question. On utilise une tete marqueuse (3) ayant au moins une electrode (4) pour effectuer des caracteres matrices sur l"objet (1) au moyen d"un procede a l"arc electrique. Les caracteres consistent en pieces matricees sous forme de projections soudees, auquel cas on utilise une electrode consommable, de preference, choisie en fonction des principes du soudage a l"arc sous gaz, ou bien en pieces matricees sous forme d"evidements, auquel cas on utilise une electrode non-consommable, de preference en fonction des principes de decoupage a l"arc au plasma. La tete marqueuse (3) comprend de preference une serie d"electrodes (4) qui sont activees selectivement en fonction du deplacement relatif entre la tete marqueuse et l"objet metallique (1) pour effectuer les caracteres matrices desires. En detectant la consommation de courant de l"electrode necessaire en association a l"excitation d"une electrode, on obtient la confirmation que le caractere matrice voulu a ete effectivement realise.
