Abstract:
(EN) A method and apparatus are provided for analyzing chemical and biological samples, comprising at least one slide (12, 14) having an electrically conductive surface (16, 18) thereof; a sample (24) to be analyzed; means (10, 20) to induce an electro-static field in said sample to cause particles within said sample to selectively re-orient themselves or migrate to a new position; and means (22) to analyze said migrating particles. In one embodiment an electrical field activates a nematic fluid stain (47) for identification of particles within a sample. By altering the electrical characteristics of a sample and passing an electrical waveform through the sample, the resultant change in waveform is indicative of the sample"s constituency.
