(EN)Automatic steering means for ships to eliminate directional instability due to abnormal phenomena which may be caused at small rudder angles in fullsized vessels. At small rudder angles, two types of stable, steady turning conditions arise. The result is a phenomenon in which there is frequently irregular deflection without the turning motion being limited to one condition. Accordingly, the present invention has for its object to provide automatic steering means in which a rudder angle command signal is obtained from an operation circuit and a rudder angle servomechanism by the use of a deviation signal which is derived from the deviation between a predetermined course and bow direction, characterized in that there is provided a compensating circuit at the pre-stage of the operation circuit whereby the gain of the compensating circuit can be increased over a minute range of deviation signals to suppress the meandering of the ship, thus resulting in the elimination of directional instability.

A ces petits angles peuvent apparaitre deux types de conditions de giration stables. Il en resulte un phenomene en vertu duquel se produit frequemment une deflection irreguliere sans que le mouvement de giration s"opere dans une condition unique. La presente invention a donc pour objet un dispositif de pilotage automatique dans lequel un signal de commande de l"angle de gouvernail est obtenu a partir d"un circuit de commande et d"un servo-mecanisme d"angle de gouvernail en utilisant un signal de deviation qui est obtenu a partir de la difference entre une route predeterminee et le cap du bateau, caracterise en ce qu"il comporte un circuit de compensation a l"etage preliminaire du circuit de commande permettant de regler le gain du circuit de compensation au-dessus d"une gamme reduite de signaux de deviation afin d"eviter les oscillations en direction du bateau et d"eliminer ainsi le manque de stabilite directionnelle.
