(EN)A gas expander of the type which comprises an expansion chamber (6, 23, 44) provided with inlet ports (9, 33, 34, 48) and outlet ports (13, 35, 36, 49) and a work transfer means (4, 24, 45) which is movable in the expansion chamber and which is arranged to be actuated by the gas in the expansion chamber during a gas expansion/working phase. In order to reduce the heat-associated losses in the gas expander (1, 21, 42) which are occasioned by the removal of heal from the expansion chamber (6) and heat oscillations between the gas and the material of the expansion chamber walls with an inappropriate lime constant relative to the working phase of the expander, and to achieve thereby improved gas admission and gas expansion with an associated increase in the efficiency of the gas expander, heat energy controlling means (14, 15; 41; 58, 59) having a structure (17, 20, 62) which is known per se is applied in the admission volume (7) of the expansion chamber and is given such a large heat-transfer surface-to-mass ratio that the maximum material dimension (D, T) of the structure is less than the heat penetration depth which occurs in the walls of the expansion chamber and of the work transfer means when these are exposed to oscillating temperature variations during operation of the gas expander. By this means a starting condition is obtained for the expansion process of the gas flowing into the expander which condition makes possible almost isothermic expansion with less net entropy increase than with a conventional gas expansion process and thereby lower heat losses and lower mean temperatures in the gas expander.
(FR)Une machine a detente du type comprenant une chambre de detente (6, 23, 44) pourvue d"orifices d"admission (9, 33, 34, 48) et d"orifices de sortie (13, 35, 36, 49) et des moyens de transmission d"energie mecanique (4, 24, 45) mobiles dans la chambre de detente et disposes de facon a etre mus par le gaz dans la chambre de detente au cours d"une phase de detente du gaz. Afin de reduire les pertes de chaleur dans la machine a detente (1, 21, 42) qui sont provoquees par l"elimination de la chaleur de la chambre de detente (6) ainsi que les oscillations de temperature entre le gaz et le materiau constituant les parois de la chambre de detente avec une constante de temps non-appropriee par rapport a la phase de travail de la machine de detente, et afin d"obtenir ainsi une amelioration de l"admission du gaz et de sa detente s"accompagnant d"un accroissement du rendement de la machine a detente, des moyens de controle de l"energie calorifique (14, 15; 41; 58, 59) possedant une structure (17, 20, 62) connue en elle-meme sont utilises dans le volume d"admission (7) de la chambre de detente et sont pourvus d"un rapport surface/ masse de transfert de chaleur si eleve que la dimension materielle maximum (D, T) de la structure est inferieure a la profondeur de penetration de chaleur dans les parois de la chambre d"expansion et des moyens de transfert de l"energie mecanique lorsque ceux-ci sont exposes aux variations de temperature pendant le fonctionnement de la machine a detente. Ces moyens permettent d"obtenir des conditions de depart du procede de detente du gaz a l"interieur de la machine a detente qui rendent possible une detente presque isotherme avec un accroissement de l"entropie moins eleve que dans un procede de detente conventionnel et par consequent entraine des pertes de chaleur moins importantes et des temperatures moyennes au sein de la machine de detente moins elevees.
