(EN)The coordinate input device of the invention includes an input plate (100) comprising two light, guiding path arrays formed by parallel arrays of a required number of light-guiding paths (11, 12) which include light-scattering bodies (22), the two light-guiding path arrays being superposed such that the parallel light-guiding paths in one array perpendicularly cross the parallel light-guiding paths in the other. When a point on the input plate (100) is irradiated by means of a light pen (10), the light is scattered by the light-scattering body (22) located in the light-scattering paths (11, 12) perpendicularly intersecting at the irradiated point. The light is transmitted to the end faces (11a, 12a) of these light-guiding paths where it is detected. The corresponding detection signal is then used to obtain the positional coordinates of the light pen (10) expressed in terms of a two-value system.
