(EN)A method and apparatus for use in EDM are described. Known EDM techniques require the voltage applied between the electrode (11) and the workpiece (10) to be removed either periodically or after a predetermined integrated current has passed and the resulting interruptions add to the time required for machining. In the present invention the voltage is applied until an arc is imminent or is detected and then the voltage is removed for a time sufficient to allow de-ionization of the gap between the electrode (11) and the workpiece (10) to occur.
(FR)Une methode et appareil utilises dans l"usinage par electroerosion sont decrits. Avec les techniques d"usinage par electroerosion connues, il est necessaire d"enlever la tension appliquee entre l"electrode et la piece a usiner, soit periodiquement, soit apres passage d"un courant integre predetermine, et ces interruptions repetees s"ajoutent au temps requis pour l"usinage. Dans la presente invention, la tension est appliquee jusqu"a ce qu"un arc soit imminent ou soit detecte et a ce moment on met hors tension pendant un temps suffisamment long pour permettre a la desionisation de l"espace entre l"electrode et la piece a usiner de se produire.
