(EN)A method of making glass of high purity and in virtually unlimited shapes via solution deposition on a porous self-supporting body by reaction between a first solution and a second solution; an a product made thereby. The rust solution containing at least one basic glass forming solute is confined within a porous container, the walls of which are substantially impermeable to the basic solute. The second solution containing at least one acidic solute is diffused into the porous container through its walls which are substantially permeable to the said acidic solute. The reaction between the rust solution and the second solution takes place within the porous container leading to the deposition of a self-supporting porous body on the inside walls of the container. The porous body which is crystalline, vitreous or intermediate between the two, is purified by leaching and/or washing, dried and thermally consolidated, to a transparent non-porous glass.
(FR)Methode de fabrication de verre a haute purete, pratiquement sans limitation de formes, par depot d"une solution sur un support poreux rigide, depot obtenu par reaction entre une premiere et une deuxieme solution; et produit obtenu par cette methode. La premiere solution, qui contient au moins un solute basique servant a former du verre, est disposee dans un recipient poreux dont les parois sont pratiquement impermeables au solute basique. La deuxieme solution, qui contient au moins un solute acide est introduite dans le recipient poreux par diffusion a travers ses parois, qui sont permeables a ce solute acide. La reaction entre la premiere et la deuxieme solution se produit a l"interieur du recipient poreux et provoque le depot d"une piece poreuse rigide sur la face interne des parois du recipient. La piece poreuse, qui est cristalline, vitreuse ou dans un etat intermediaire, est purifiee par filtration et/ou lavage, sechee et consolidee par voie thermique, pour donner un verre transparent non poreux.
