Claims

1. A device, comprising:
a housing comprising a first end and a second end;
an electronic device comprising at least one processor, at least one memory device, a display, and a first electrical connector,
wherein a first rabbet is defined into the electronic device, and
wherein the electronic device is configured to be received at the first end of the housing; and
an electronic accessory module, operable with the at least one processor of the electronic device, and comprising a second electrical connector,
wherein a second rabbet complementary in shape to the first rabbet of the electronic device is defined into the electronic accessory module, and
wherein the electronic accessory module is configured to be received at the second end of the housing so that (i) the first electrical connector is biased together with the second electrical connector, (ii) the electronic device and the electronic accessory module are secured within the housing, and (iii) the second rabbet of the electronic accessory module engages with the first rabbet of the electronic device.
2. The device of claim 1, wherein the first rabbet is defined into a rear side of the electronic device.
3. The device of claim 1, wherein the electronic device further comprises a component casing, wherein an additional rabbet is formed by the component casing and extends beyond a bottom of the display of the electronic device.
4. The device of claim 3, wherein when the second rabbet of the electronic accessory module engages with the first rabbet of the electronic device, the additional rabbet is engaged with the first end of the housing.
5. The device of claim 1, wherein the second rabbet of the electronic accessory module comprises a tongue that engages a step-shaped recess of the first rabbet of the electronic device.
6. The device of claim 5, wherein when the second rabbet of the electronic accessory module engages with the first rabbet of the electronic device, the first rabbet sits atop the tongue of the second rabbet.
7. The device of claim 5, wherein the second electrical connector of the electronic accessory module is disposed along the tongue of the second rabbet.
8. The device of claim 1, wherein the housing further comprises a set of retention mechanisms that couples with a corresponding set of coupling mechanisms of the electronic device.
9. The device of claim 1, wherein the first electrical connector is disposed on the first rabbet of the electronic device, and the second electrical connector is disposed on the second rabbet of the electronic accessory module.
10. The device of claim 1, wherein the electronic device is a portable phone that supports wireless communication and display of visual output by the display.
11. A device, comprising:
an electronic device having a front side and a rear side, and comprising:
a processor,
a memory,
a display disposed along at least a portion of the front side of the electronic device,
a first electrical connector, and
a rabbet defined into the rear side of the electronic device;
an electronic accessory comprising:
a second electrical connector configured for data communication with the processor of the electronic device, and
an additional rabbet complementary in shape to the rabbet of the electronic device; and
a housing comprising a first end and a second end;
wherein the electronic device is configured to be received at the first end of the housing, and the electronic accessory is configured to be received at the second end of the housing so that (i) the first electrical connector is biased together with the second electrical connector, (ii) the electronic device and the electronic accessory are secured within the housing, and (iii) the additional rabbet of the electronic accessory engages with the rabbet of the electronic device.
12. The device of claim 1, wherein the electronic device further comprises a component casing forming a second rabbet that extends beyond a bottom of the display of the electronic device.
13. The device of claim 3, wherein when the additional rabbet of the electronic accessory engages with the rabbet of the electronic device, the second rabbet is engaged with the first end of the housing.
14. The device of claim 11, wherein the additional rabbet of the electronic accessory comprises a tongue that engages a step-shaped recess of the rabbet of the electronic device.
15. The device of claim 14, wherein when the additional rabbet of the electronic accessory engages with the rabbet of the electronic device, the rabbet sits atop the tongue of the additional rabbet.
16. The device of claim 14, wherein the second electrical connector of the electronic accessory is disposed along the tongue of the additional rabbet.
17. The device of claim 1, wherein the housing further comprises a set of retention mechanisms that couples with a corresponding set of coupling mechanisms of the electronic device.
18. The device of claim 1, wherein the first electrical connector is disposed on the rabbet of the electronic device, and the second electrical connector is disposed on the additional rabbet of the electronic accessory.
19. The device of claim 1, wherein the electronic device is a portable phone that supports wireless communication and display of visual output by the display.
20. A method of assembling a device, the method comprising:
inserting, into a first end of a housing, an electronic accessory comprising a first electrical connector and a first rabbet;
toeing an end of an electronic device into a second end of the housing, the electronic device comprising a second electrical connector and a second rabbet complementary in shape to the first rabbet of the electronic accessory;
pivoting the electronic device to (i) engage the first electrical connector of the electronic accessory with the second electrical connector of the electronic device, and (ii) engage the first rabbet of the electronic accessory with the second rabbet of the electronic device; and
securing the electronic device and the electronic accessory within the housing.
