A cyclonic separating apparatus comprises an inlet 11 through which air containing dust from an external air duct enters, a swirl chamber 12 that has a substantially cylindrical shape, and swirls the air containing dust entering from the inlet 11 to separate air from dust, an outlet that discharges the air separated from the air containing dust in the swirl chamber 12, a discharge pipe 16a that provides communication between an air blower that generates a suction force and the outlet, an opening portion 113 formed by opening a part of a side wall of the swirl chamber 12, and a dust collecting chamber 114 provided on a radially outward side of the opening portion. At least a part of an opening edge of the opening portion 113 facing a downstream side in a swirl direction of suction air in the swirl chamber 12 has a rounded shape recessed in the swirl direction. The opening portion 113 is formed so that a substantially central point of the opening portion is placed on an upstream side in the swirl direction of the suction air in the swirl chamber 12 with respect to a plane connecting a central axis of the dust collecting chamber 114 and a central axis of the swirl chamber 12.
