A SUPPORTING MECHANISM FOR FRONT PANEL OF INDOOR UNIT OF AN AIR CONDITIONER IS COMPOSED OF AN UPPER SUPPORTING ROD (31) AND A LOWER SUPPORTING ROD (32). THE FRONT PANEL (1) IS ROTATABLY LINKED WITH A PANEL BODY (2) BY A HINGE. THE UPPER SUPPORTING ROD (31) AND THE LOWER SUPPORTING ROD (32) ARE ROTATABLY LINKED BY A HINGE MECHANISM. A RESTRICTING AND LOCKING MECHANISM IS PROVIDED AT THE LOCATION WHERE THE UPPER SUPPORTING ROD (31) AND THE LOWER SUPPORTING ROD (32) ARE JOINED WITH EACH OTHER. THE RESTRICTING AND LOCKING MECHANISM INCLUDES A BAFFLE AND AN ELASTIC FLAKE (314) ON THE UPPER SUPPORTING ROD (31) AND A BULGE (3221) AND FLANKS (3211) ON THE LOWER SUPPORTING ROD (32). WHEN THE FRONT PANEL (1) IS CLOSED, THE UPPER SUPPORTING ROD (31) AND THE LOWER SUPPORTING ROD (32) ARE FOLDED AND HIDDEN IN THE INDOOR UNIT; AND WHEN THE FRONT PANEL (1) IS OPENED, THE UPPER SUPPORTING ROD (31) AND THE LOWER SUPPORTING ROD (32) ARE DEPLOYED A STRAIGHT LINE, AND ARE AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED THROUGH THE RESTRICTING AND LOCKING MECHANISM AFTER THE OPENING, SO THAT THE FRONT PANEL (1) CAN BE HELD AT AN OPENING POSITION, FACILITATING THE REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF THE AIR CONDITIONER. AT THE SAME TIME, THE OPENING ANGLE OF THE FRONT PANEL (1) IS RESTRICTED, SO THAT DAMAGES TO THE FRONT PANEL (1), THE PANEL BODY (2) AND OTHER COMPONENTS DUE TO EXCESS OPENING OF THE FRONT PANEL (1) CAN BE PREVENTED.
