Abstract:
(EN) Nucleotide sequences mediating male fertility in plants are described, with DNA molecule and amino acid sequences set forth. Promoter sequences and their essential regions are also identified. The nucleotide sequences are useful in mediating male fertility in plants. In one such method, the homozygous recessive condition of male sterility causing alleles is maintained after crossing with a second plant, where the second plant contains a restoring transgene construct having a nucleotide sequence which reverses the homozygous condition. The restoring sequence is linked with a hemizygous sequence encoding a product inhibiting formation or function of male gametes. The maintainer plant produces only viable male gametes which do not contain the restoring transgene construct. Increase of the maintainer plant is also provided by self-fertilization, and selection for seed or plants which contain the construct.
(ES) Se describen secuencias de nucleótidos que median en la fertilidad masculina de las plantas, con moléculas de ADN y secuencias de aminoácidos. Se identifican las secuencias promotoras y sus regiones esenciales. Las secuencias de nucleótidos sonútiles para mediar en la fertilidad masculina de las plantas. En uno de estos métodos, los alelos homocigotas recesivos que provocan la condición de esterilidad masculina se mantienen después de realizar un cruzamiento con una segunda planta, donde la segunda planta contiene una construcción transgénica restauradora que tiene una secuencia de nucleótidos que invierte la condición homocigota. La secuencia restauradora estáunida a una secuencia hemicigota que codifica un producto que inhibe la formación o la función de las gametas masculinas. La planta de mantenimiento solamente produce gametas masculinas viables que no contienen la construcción transgénica restauradora. El incremento de la planta de mantenimiento también se produce por auto-fertilización, y la selección de semillas o plantas que contienen la construcción.
