본 발명은 부식성 다운홀 물품으로서 사용하기에 적합한 마그네슘 합금에 관한 것이다. 마그네슘 합금은 (a) 2 내지 7wt%의 Gd, (b) 0 내지 2wt%의 Y, (c) 0 내지 5.0wt%의 Nd, 및 (d) 적어도 80wt%의 Mg를 포함하고, ASTM B557M-10에 의해 측정하는 경우에 적어도 22%의 연신율을 갖는다. 본 발명은 또한 마그네슘 합금을 포함하는 다운홀 툴, 마그네슘 합금을 생산하기 위한 방법, 및 마그네슘 합금을 포함하는 다운홀 툴의 사용을 포함하는 수압 파쇄 방법에 관한 것이다.
