The present invention relates to an artificial intelligence (AI) system and an application thereof that simulate functions such as recognition, judgment and the like of a human brain by using a machine learning algorithm such as deep learning. A method of allowing a device to transmit/receive voice data to/from a counterparty device includes the steps of: obtaining a voice input that is input by a first user of a device; obtaining recognition information indicating the meaning of the obtained voice input; transmitting the obtained voice input to a counterparty device; determining whether an abnormal situation occurs wherein the abnormal situation is generated when a second user of the counterparty device does not understand the transmitted voice input; and transmitting the obtained recognition information to the counterparty device based on a determination result. 본 개시는 딥러닝 등의 기계 학습 알고리즘을 활용하여 인간 두뇌의 인지, 판단 등의 기능을 모사하는 인공지능(AI) 시스템 및 그 응용에 관련된 것이다. 디바이스의 제 1 사용자에 의해 입력되는 음성 입력을 획득하는 단계; 획득된 음성 입력의 의미를 나타내는 인식 정보를 획득하는 단계; 획득된 음성 입력을 상대 디바이스에게 전송하는 단계; 상대 디바이스의 제 2 사용자가 전송된 음성 입력을 이해하지 못하는 비정상 상황이 발생했는 지를 판단하는 단계; 및 판단 결과에 기초하여, 획득된 인식 정보를 상대 디바이스에게 전송하는 단계를 포함하는, 디바이스가 상대 디바이스와 음성 데이터를 송수신하는 방법이 개시된다.
