본 발명은 초임계 암모니아를 사용하여 전이금속 질화물을 합성하는 방법을 개시한다. 질화바나듐, 질화몰리브덴, 질화티타늄, 질화니켈, 질화니오븀, 질화철 등과 같은 전이금속 질화물이 칼륨, 나트륨, 리튬, 마그네슘, 칼슘 및 알루미늄과 같은 환원 광화제와 함께 초임계 암모니아 중에서 합성될 수 있다. 초임계 암모니아는 기체와 액체의 특징을 모두 가지므로 그것은 복잡한 미세 구조 또는 미세 입자를 덮을 수 있다. 이 새로운 방법은 복잡한 구조 위에 보호 코팅을 형성하거나, 또는 마이크로 내지 나노 크기의 입자를 형성하는데 적합하다.
