PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate accurate distance information.

SOLUTION: A distance measurement device includes: an image sensor; a modulator configured to modulate intensity of light projected onto the image sensor based on an imaging pattern; a complex sensor image generator configured to generate a complex sensor image from a sensor image; an evaluation index array generator configured to generate an evaluation index array based on phase information of the complex sensor image; and a distance information generator configured to generate distance information by using the evaluation index array. The evaluation index array generator generates an evaluation pattern including a plurality of different development patterns corresponding to focus distance; generates a plurality of development images using the complex sensor image and the evaluation pattern; generates a three-dimensional complex information array having in-plane and depth directions by stacking the plurality of developed images in an ascending order of the focus distances; and provides the evaluation index array that is a three-dimensional array in which a plurality of two-dimensional arrays smoothed in at least one direction of the three-dimensional complex information array are stacked.

距離計測装置であって、画像センサと、撮影用パターンに基づき画像センサ上に投影される光の強度を変調する変調器と、センサ画像から複素センサ画像を生成する複素センサ画像生成部と、複素センサ画像の位相情報を基に評価指標配列を生成する評価指標配列生成部と、評価指標配列を用いて距離情報を生成する距離情報生成部と、を有し、評価指標配列生成部は、ピント距離に応じた複数の互いに異なる現像用パターンを含む評価用パターンを生成し、複素センサ画像と評価用パターンとを用いて複数の現像画像を生成し、複数の現像画像をピント距離が近い順に積層させて平面および奥行き方向を有する三次元の複素情報配列を生成し、複素情報配列について三次元の少なくとも一つの方向に平滑化した二次元配列を複数積層させた三次元配列を評価指標配列とする。
