Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique by which combustion gas short passage can be suppressed in a gas generator comprising a filter.

SOLUTION: A gas generator comprises: a housing; an igniter located in the housing; a combustion chamber in which the igniter is accommodated and a gas generating agent, which is combusted by the igniter, is filled; a gas discharge hole which is provided in the housing, and communicates the interior and the exterior of the housing with each other; and a cylindrical filter which is located between the combustion chamber and the gas discharge hole. In this gas generator, the filter is positioned in the housing so that a part of at least one end face of both end faces in an axial direction of the filter contacts and is supported, an outside portion, which is positioned on a radial direction outer side with respect to the contact-supported part, is adjacent to a prescribed space, and a prescribed outer peripheral portion near said at least one end face of an outer peripheral surface of the filter contacts and is supported.

【課題】フィルタを具備するガス発生器における燃焼ガスのショートパスを抑制し得る技術を提供する。
【解決手段】ハウジングと、ハウジング内に配置される点火器と、点火器が収容され且つ該点火器により燃焼されるガス発生剤が充填される燃焼室と、ハウジングに設けられ、該ハウジングの内部と外部とを連通するガス排出孔と、燃焼室とガス排出孔との間に配置される筒状のフィルタと、を備える、ガス発生器において、フィルタは、該フィルタの軸方向の両端面のうち少なくとも一方の端面の一部が接触して支持されるとともに、該接触支持された部位よりも半径方向外側に位置する外側部位が所定空間と隣接するように、且つ、該フィルタの外周面のうち該少なくとも一方の端面近傍の所定外周部位が接触して支持されるように、ハウジング内に位置決めされるようにした。
