PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens which offers a bright F-number and high optical performance.

SOLUTION: The zoom lens substantially consists of five lens groups comprising, in order from the object side, a negative first lens group G1, positive second lens group G2, negative third lens group G3, positive fourth lens group G4, and positive fifth lens group G5, and is configured such that, during zooming, a distance between the first lens group and the second lens group, a distance between the second lens group and the third lens group, a distance between the third lens group and the fourth lens group, and a distance between the fourth lens group and the fifth lens group change while the second lens group and the fourth lens group move along an optical axis following identical trajectories and at least the third lens group, consisting of a single lens component, moves along the optical axis. The zoom lens satisfies a condition expressed as: 1.800<(-f3)/fw<10.000, where f3 represents a focal length of the third lens group and fw represents a focal length of the entire zoom lens system at the wide-angle end.

【解決手段】ズームレンズは、物体側から順に、負の第1レンズ群G1と、正の第2レンズ群G2と、負の第3レンズ群G3と、正の第4レンズ群G4と、正の第5レンズ群G5との実質的に5個のレンズ群からなり、変倍の際に、第1レンズ群と第2レンズ群との間隔が変化し、第2レンズ群と第3レンズ群との間隔が変化し、第3レンズ群と第4レンズ群との間隔が変化し、第4レンズ群と第5レンズ群との間隔が変化し、第2レンズ群と第4レンズ群とが光軸に沿って同じ軌跡で移動し、少なくとも第3レンズ群が光軸に沿って移動し、第3レンズ群は1つのレンズ成分で構成され、以下の条件式を満足する。1.800<(−f3)/fw<10.000、ただし、f3:前記第3レンズ群の焦点距離、fw:広角端状態における前記ズームレンズ全系の焦点距離
