ペロブスカイト化合物を光吸収剤として用いた、耐湿性のばらつきが小さい光電変換素子、この光電変換素子を用いた太陽電池、光電変換素子の製造方法、表面処理剤、表面処理用組成物、および、表面処理液を提供する。光電変換素子は、光吸収剤を含む感光層を導電性支持体上に有する第一電極と、感光層表面に設けられた表面処理剤を含む化合物層と、第二電極とをこの順で有し、光吸収剤は、周期表第一族元素またはカチオン性有機基Aのカチオン、周期表第一族元素以外の金属原子Mのカチオン、およびアニオン性原子または原子団Xのアニオンを有するペロブスカイト型結晶構造を持つ化合物を含み、表面処理剤はシリル基を有する。
