PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston for an internal combustion engine which achieves improvement of heat efficiency and reduction of emission and prevents overheating of the piston to prevent occurrence of knocking and preignition and deterioration of air charging efficiency.
SOLUTION: A piston (100) for an internal combustion engine according to the invention is a piston (100) forming a part of a combustion chamber (9) of an internal combustion engine (200) and has: a base material (103); a first film (101) provided at a part of a top surface of the base material (103) which contacts with the combustion chamber (9); and a second film (102) provided at another portion of the top surface. The first film (101) has heat conductivity and heat capacity that are smaller than those of the base material (103). The second film (102) has heat conductivity smaller than that of the base material (103) and heat capacity larger than that of the first film (101).
