本発明は、LCDディスプレイ並びに指示板及び看板のバックライトに適した、エッジにおいて照明される導光板であって、エッジにおいて入光された光を、エッジに対して垂直に位置する両表面の少なくとも一方を介して再放出する導光板を提供する。光源の、エッジにおいて入光された光が、全反射の回避により表面の一方を介して再び導光板を後にすることができるように、光線の向きを導光板内で適当に変えなければならない。導光板は、導光板の両表面の一方に、シート(5)により損傷から保護された光学的な障害箇所(2)を有している。本発明は、付加的に、障害箇所を簡単に被着する方法を提供する。
