Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and quickly detect the gas phase combustion condition on the upstream side of a catalyst.

SOLUTION: This combustion condition detecting device comprises an air supply pipe 11 provided with a bypass pipe 14 for supplying air via the bypass pipe 14 directly to a combustor 9. Thus, air having lower humidity and higher oxygen partial pressure than cathode offgas can be supplied to the combustor 9 to ensure the combustion of the catalyst while preventing ill effects of the high humidity and the low oxygen concentration of the cathode offgas and preventing a failure of combustion such as misfire or ignition delay. As a result, the gas phase combustion condition on the upstream side of the catalyst can be detected using the temperature rise speed or temperature on the upstream side of the catalyst and a time for determining the combustion condition can be shortened using the temperature rise speed.

【課題】触媒上流側が気相燃焼状態にあることを的確、且つ、速やかに検知する。
【解決手段】空気供給配管11には、バイパス配管14が設けられ、バイパス配管14を介して空気を直接燃焼器9に供給可能なように構成されている。これにより、カソードオフガスと比較して湿度が低く、且つ、酸素分圧が高い空気を燃焼器9に供給できるようになるので、カソードオフガスの高湿・低酸素濃度状態による悪影響を防止し、失火や着火遅れなどの燃焼不具合を防止し、確実な触媒燃焼が可能となる。またこの結果、触媒上流側の昇温速度や温度を用いて触媒上流側での気相燃焼状態を検知することができると共に、昇温速度を用いることによって燃焼状態の判定時間を短縮することができる。
