PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new metallocene compound having a specific functioning crosslinking group between cyclopentadienyl type units and useful as a catalytic component for the (co)polymerization of an -olefin in a suspended phase or in a gas phase, and a bulk polymerization under a high temperature and a high pressure.

SOLUTION: This heterogeneous catalytic component for the polymerization of an olefin, is a compound of formula I [Y is a halogen; M is a transition metal in the 3-6 groups of the periodic table; L is a cyclopentadienyl type unit containing indenyl or fluorenyl and bonding to the M with a bond; Z is a linking group of two L's; E is a spacer group linking the Z with the Y, containing at least one Si, Ge or Sn in its skeleton and linking Y therewith: (o), (j) are each 0, 1, and (j) is 1 at least once; (k) is 1-3; (m) is an oxidation number of the M]. For example, (Chloromethylsilandiyl)bis(cyclopentadienyl) zirconium (IV) dichloride. The compound of the formula I is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II (S is an eliminative group such as trimethylsilyl) with a compound of the formula: MYm.
