Abstract
(EN) The present invention relates to a fiber-optic sensor for measuring an optical phase shift between a fundamental fiber mode and a first higher order mode of an optical sensing fiber (200), comprising an integrated-optic waveguide beam splitter (OW) having a first port at a first side and N second ports at a second side, the first and second side being preferably opposite to each other, N being a positive integer N ≥ 2, and the integrated-optic waveguide beam splitter having a splitter plane; M first polarizing elements (PE1,PE2,... PEM), M being a positive integer M ≥ 2, coupled to the second side of the integrated-optic waveguide beam splitter; a birefringent optical element (R) arranged between at least one of the M first polarizing elements and at least one port of the N ports of the second side of the 1 x N integrated-optic waveguide beam splitter; and a polarization-maintaining optical fiber (300), a second polarizing element (500), the optical sensing fiber (200), and a reflector (600).
