The invention refers to an apparatus for laminar liquid cooling for ultrasonic fatigue testing of material contains: an ultrasonic transducer (1), on which the test sample (2) is mounted, to which a cooling fluid (4) is fed through a nozzle (3) of a defined shape, thus forming a continuous liquid film (5) on the surface of the test sample (2).The invention also refers to a method for laminar liquid cooling for ultrasonic fatigue testing of material, the method is based on that the cooling liquid (4), flowing through the nozzle (3), flows over the surface of a measuring portion (7) of a test sample (2) by a laminar flow in the direction of the gravitational force (6) and removes the heat generated by mechanical deformation of the test sample (2). Preferably, an implosion occurs outside the critical location for initiation of the fatigue crack.
