A stop control system for an internal combustion engine, which controls a stop position of a piston of the engine, is provided. An valve opening amount of an intake air flow rate control valve is determined based on the detected engine rotational speed and the detected crank angle after the ignition switch is turned off, and the intake air flow rate control valve is controlled so that the valve opening amount of the intake air flow rate control valve coincides with the determined valve opening amount. For example, the valve opening amount of the intake air flow rate control valve is determined according to the crank angle at the time the engine rotational speed decreases to reach a predetermined range, and the intake air flow rate control valve is controlled to be opened. With this control, the intake air amount of the engine is increased so that the stop position of the piston coincides with the desired position.

L'invention porte sur un dispositif de commande d'arrêt pour commander la position d'arrêt d'un piston d'un moteur à combustion interne de façon à être à une position souhaitée. Après qu'un commutateur d'allumage a été éteint, un degré d'ouverture de soupape d'une soupape de commande de débit massique d'air d'entrée est déterminé en fonction d'une vitesse de rotation de moteur détectée et d'une position de vilebrequin détectée de manière à commander la soupape de commande de débit massique d'air d'entrée pour qu'elle soit réglée au degré d'ouverture de soupape déterminé. Par exemple, le degré d'ouverture de soupape de la soupape de commande de débit massique d'air d'entrée est déterminé pour commander le degré d'ouverture de la soupape de commande de débit massique d'air d'entrée en fonction de la position de vilebrequin lorsque la vitesse de rotation de moteur détectée est abaissée jusqu'à une plage prédéterminée. Ainsi, le débit massique d'air d'entrée du moteur peut être accru de telle sorte que la position d'arrêt du piston est établie à une position souhaitée.
