In a case where a plurality of transmission video data having predetermined opto-electrical transfer characteristics are switched therebetween and transmitted, processes for obtaining image data for display from the transmission video data are achieved to be appropriately performed at a receiver side. A video stream is obtained by switching between a plurality of kinds of transmission video data having predetermined opto-electrical transfer characteristics and encoding the resulting transmission video data. A container in a predetermined format containing the video stream is transmitted. Identification information representing the kind of transmission video data included in the video stream contained in the container is inserted in the container, such that the identification information indicates the kind of transmission video data resulting from switching, from a timing that is a predetermined amount of time or longer before the switching timing.

La présente invention a pour but de rendre possible un processus afin d'obtenir des données d’image d’utilisation de dispositif d’affichage à partir de données vidéo de transmission et que ledit processus soit assuré de manière appropriée sur le côté réception lorsque de multiples types de données vidéo de transmission ayant une caractéristique de conversion opto-électrique prescrite sont transmis tout en étant commutés. Un flux vidéo est obtenu par mise en œuvre d’un processus de codage sur des données vidéo de transmission obtenues par commutation et transmission de multiples types de données vidéo de transmission ayant une caractéristique de conversion opto-électrique prescrite. Un contenant dans un format prescrit contenant ce flux vidéo est transmis. Des informations d’identification indiquant le type de données vidéo de transmission appartenant au flux vidéo contenu dans le contenant sont insérées dans le contenant. Les informations d’identification sont insérées à une quantité de temps n'étant pas inférieure à une quantité de temps prescrite avant la temporisation de la commutation, de façon à indiquer le type de données vidéo de transmission après la commutation.
