(EN) A portable hand held optical reader having a specially constructed two-dimensional image sensor array is operational in a bar code decoding mode and in a picture taking mode. The specially constructed image sensor array is a hybrid monochrome and color image sensor pixel array, wherein a first subset of the pixels are monochrome pixels devoid of wavelength selective color filter elements and a second subset of the pixels are color sensitive pixels including wavelength selective color filter elements.
(FR) L'invention concerne un lecteur optique portable à tenue manuelle comprenant un ensemble spécifique de capteur d'images bidimensionnelles pouvant fonctionner en mode décodeur de codes barres et en mode prise de vues. Dans un mode de réalisation, l'ensemble spécifique de capteurs d'image est constitué par un ensemble hybride pour images monochromes/images couleur, un premier sous-ensemble de pixels étant constitué par des pixels monochromes sans éléments de filtre couleur à sélectivité de la longueur d'onde et par un second sous-ensemble de pixels à sensibilité chromatique avec éléments de filtre couleur à sélectivité de longueur d'onde.
