Abstract
(EN) In a Mach-Zehnder optical circuit that has a 3 dB coupler 10 whereby an NRZ light signal 53 inputted to an input port 7 is distributed to both arms of the circuit, a 3 dB coupler 3 whereby CW light 52 inputted to an input port 8 is distributed to both of the arms, and a 3 dB coupler 4 for synthesizing the light that has passed through both arms, the two arms of the circuit have nonlinear waveguide elements 1 and 2 whereby the refractive index is caused to change in nonlinear fashion and create a nonlinear shift in the phase of the inputted CW light when each NRZ signal distributed by the 3 dB coupler 10 is inputted, and further have variable attenuators 12 and 13 whereby the NRZ light signal inputted to the nonlinear waveguide element 2 is attenuated below the level of the NRZ light signal inputted to the nonlinear waveguide element 1. Furthermore, a variable delay circuit 11 is provided for causing the NRZ light signal to be inputted to the nonlinear waveguide element 2 after the NRZ light signal is inputted to the nonlinear waveguide element 1, and the time by which the input of the NRZ light signal is delayed by the variable delay circuit 11 is made shorter than the relaxation time of the change in the nonlinear refractive index in the nonlinear waveguide elements 1 and 2.
(FR) L'invention concerne un circuit optique de type Mach-Zehnder comprenant un coupleur 3 dB (10) permettant de distribuer un signal NRZ (53) entré dans un port d'entrée (7) dans deux segments, un coupleur 3 dB (3) permettant de distribuer une lumière à onde entretenue (52) entrée dans un port d'entrée (8) dans les deux segments et un coupleur 3 dB (4) permettant de combiner les lumières ayant passé à travers les deux segments. Chaque segment du circuit optique de type Mach-Zehnder comprend des éléments de guide d'ondes non linéaires (1, 2) permettant de décaler de manière non linéaire la phase de la lumière à onde entretenue entrée avec un changement non linéaire d'un indice de réfraction et des atténuateurs variables (12, 13) permettant d'atténuer la lumière à signal NRZ entrée dans l'élément de guide d'ondes non linéaire (2) de manière plus importante par rapport au signal NRZ entré dans l'élément de guide d'ondes non linéaire (1). De plus, l'invention concerne un circuit à retard variable (11) permettant d'entrer la lumière à signal NRZ dans l'élément de guide d'ondes non linéaire (2) après l'entrée du signal NRZ dans l'élément de guide d'ondes non linéaire (1). Le temps de retard de l'entrée de la lumière à signal NRZ obtenu au moyen du circuit à retard variable (11) est établi de manière à être plus court qu'un temps d'atténuation du changement non linéaire de l'indice de réfraction dans les éléments de guide d'ondes non linéaires (1, 2).
