Abstract
(EN) An optical recording method is disclosed for writing a two-dimensional data pattern in a phase-change disc, i.e. a optical disc with a phase change material. The effect of thermal cross-erase is used by using the sides of the diffraction limited laser spot to heat up the adjacent track such that previously written data are partly erased. The amount of erasure is well controlled by the applied write strategy and determines the final mark size by erasing the side of the mark facing the laser spot. The mark can be initially written with a laser spot that results in a mark size that is larger than desired and subsequently, when marks in an adjacent track are being recorded, reduced in size by erasing the sides of the mark by irradiating the sides of the mark with the sides of the diffraction limited laser spot that is focused on the adjacent track.
(FR) Procédé d'enregistrement optique permettant d'inscrire un motif de données bidimensionnel dans un disque à changement de phase, c'est-à-dire un disque optique comprenant un matériau à changement de phase. L'effet d'effacement croisé thermique est obtenu par l'utilisation des côtés du point laser à diffraction limitée pour chauffer la piste adjacente, de sorte que des données préalablement inscrites sont partiellement effacées. La stratégie d'écriture appliquée permet de bien contrôler le niveau d'effacement, lequel détermine la taille finale de la marque en effaçant le côté de la marque en regard du point laser. La marque peut tout d'abord être inscrite avec un point laser qui produit une taille de marque plus importante que celle souhaitée, après quoi, lorsque des marques sont en cours d'enregistrement dans une piste adjacente, la taille peut être réduite par l'effacement des côtés de la marque par irradiation desdits côtés avec les côtés du point laser à diffraction limitée focalisé sur la piste adjacente.
