The invention relates to an axial-piston engine comprising a centrally located output shaft (1) and a plurality of piston-cylinder units (2) oriented parallel to the output shaft (1) and grouped symmetrically thereabout, a thrust yoke (5) mounted on said output shaft (1) so as to rotate therewith, said thrust yoke providing support to a tilted cam plate (4) mounted on bearings in a freely rotating manner on the perimeter of said thrust yoke (5), locking means (6, 7) for preventing the rotation of said tilted cam plate (4) with respect to the body of the engine and ball-jointed piston rods (9) connecting each piston (12) of the engine to said tilted cam plate (4) so as to transmit the sequential thrust of said pistons (12) to said tilted cam plate (4), thus effecting a rotational motion of said output shaft (1). According to the invention, the skirt of each piston (12) is provided with vanes (14) on which a force is exerted owing to an air vortex generated in the crankcase (3, 3') by the nutating movement of the tilted cam plate (4) every time the skirt of the piston (12) travels outward from the bore of the cylinder (2), thus exerting a certain degree of axial rotation of the piston (12).

Cette invention concerne un moteur à pistons axiaux comprenant un arbre de sortie central (1) ainsi que plusieurs unités piston-cylindre (2) qui sont parallèles à l'arbre de sortie (1) et regroupées symétriquement autour de celui-ci. Un moyeu de poussée (5) est monté sur l'arbre de sortie (1) de manière à entrer en rotation avec celui-ci, et à assurer le support d'un plateau à cames basculant (4) qui est monté sur des paliers de manière à tourner librement le long du périmètre dudit moyeu (5). Un système de verrouillage (6, 7) permet d'empêcher la rotation de ce plateau (4) par rapport au corps du moteur, tandis que des bielles (9) à jonction à boule relient chaque piston (12) du moteur au plateau à cames (4). Ces bielles vont transmettre la poussée séquentielle des pistons (12) au plateau (4) de manière faire tourner l'arbre de sortie (1). D'après cette invention, la jupe de chaque piston (12) comprend des pales (14) sur lesquelles s'exerce la force d'un tourbillon d'air qui est généré dans le carter (3, 3'). Ce tourbillon est généré par le mouvement oscillant du plateau (4) chaque fois que la jupe du piston (12) sort de l'alésage du cylindre (2), ce qui a pour effet d'entraîner une rotation axiale du piston (12) selon un certain degré.
