(EN) A ceramic pump cavity structure (10) for use in solid state lasers including a rod (12) of laser material and a pumping flash lamp (14), wherein the pump cavity (16) comprises sintered alumina having grain sizes of between about 0.3 to 0.5 microns. Sintered alumina pump cavities having grain sizes within this range provide desirable diffuse reflectivity comparable to barium sulfate while at the same time providing a structurally strong cavity which is resistant to cracking and breakage. Combinations of the alumina pump cavity (16) with parasitic light absorbers (22) such as samarium oxide are also disclosed.
(FR) Structure (10) de cavité de pompage en céramique destinée à être utilisée dans des lasers à semi-conducteurs comprenant une barre (12) de matériau laser ainsi qu'une lampe (14) flash de pompage, dans laquelle la cavité (16) de pompage comprend de l'oxyde d'aluminium fritté dont la granulométrie est comprise entre 0,3 et 0,5 micron. Les cavités de pompage en oxyde d'aluminium fritté dont la granulométrie se situe dans cette plage offrent une réflectivité diffuse avantageuse comparable à la barytine, tout en constituant une cavité structurellement forte, résistant au fissurage et à la cassure.
