(EN) An automatic shift drill (10) for rotationally driving a bit into a laminated workpiece at one of two speeds according to the depth of the bit in the workpiece. A cam block element (182) has flag sections and gap sections corresponding to the various layers of the workpiece. The cam block element (182) is mounted on a spindle (80) of the drill (10) to move in translation with the bit. A stationary sensor head (160) has a vent (170) which is closed when it is adjacent to one of the flag sections and open when it is adjacent to one of the gap sections. A piston (72) within the drill (10) which is responsive to pneumatic pressurization shifts the rotational speed of the bit from one speed to the other speed. The vent (170) vents the piston when it is adjacent to a gap section to drive the bit at the appropriate speed through the corresponding layer and seals the piston when it is adjacent to a flag section to drive the bit at the other speed appropriate for the layer corresponding to the flag section.
(FR) Une perceuse à changement de vitesses automatique (10) permet d'enfoncer par rotation une mèche dans une pièce à usiner stratifiée à l'une des deux vitesses en fonction de la profondeur à laquelle se trouve la mèche dans la pièce à usiner. Un élément-bloc à cames (182) possède des parties pleines et des parties évidées qui correspondent aux différentes couches de la pièce à usiner. L'élément-bloc à cames (182) est monté sur une broche (80) de la perceuse (10) pour se déplacer en translation avec le foret. Une tête de capteur stationnaire (160) possède un évent qui est fermé lorsqu'il est adjacent à l'une des parties pleines et ouvert lorsqu'il est adjacent à l'une des parties évidées. Un piston (72) sensible à une pression pneumatique, monté dans la perceuse (10), change la vitesse de rotation du foret de l'une des deux vitesses à l'autre. L'évent (170) décharge le piston lorsqu'il est adjacent à une partie évidée pour entraîner le foret à la vitesse appropriée au travers de la couche correspondante et ferme le piston lorsqu'il est adjacent à une partie pleine pour entraîner le foret à l'autre vitesse appropriée pour la couche correspondante à la partie pleine.
