Abstract
(EN) In a stereoscopic television system, the system generates a plurality of frames of stereoscopic images. When viewed on an unmodified conventional television receiver, each frame of stereoscopic image is formed of a first subfield (3) within the upper half of the display and a second subfield (4) within the lower half of the display with the subfields (3 and 4) being separated by a blanking area (1) and/or a vertical sync pulse. When the receiver is modified by doubling the vertical sync frequency, each subfield (3 or 4) would be displayed over the entire display. For stereoscopic viewing, the subfields are preferably of the left image and the right image.
(FR) Dans un système de télévison stéréoscopique, le système produit une pluralité de cadres d'images stéréoscopiques. Lorsqu'il est observé sur un récepteur de télévision conventionnel non modifié, chaque cadre d'image stéréoscopique est formé par un premier sous-champ (3) situé dans la moitié supérieure de l'écran et un deuxième sous-champ (4) situé dans la moitié inférieure de l'écran, les sous-champs (3 et 4) étant séparés par une zone de suppression (1) et/ou une impulsion de synchronisation verticale. Lorsque le poste récepteur est modifié en doublant la fréquence de synchronisation verticale, chaque sous-champ (3 ou 4) est reproduit sur l'écran entier. Pour une observation stéréoscopique, les sous-champs correspondent de préférence à l'image gauche et à l'image droite.
