Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren (42) zum Klassifizieren eines Verhaltens eines Verkehrsteilnehmers (18) vor dem Überqueren einer Fahrbahn (22) eines Fahrzeuges (14), wobei das Verfahren (42) wenigstens einen ersten Schritt (46), bei welchem ein den Verkehrsteilnehmer (18) erfassendes Sensorsignal eingelesen wird, einen zweiten Schritt (50), bei welchem das Sensorsignal ausgewertet und anhand dessen ermittelt wird, ob anhand eines Handlungsmusters des Verkehrsteilnehmers (18) eine Wahrscheinlichkeit dafür vorliegt, dass der Verkehrsteilnehmer (18) das Fahrzeug (14) wahrgenommen hat, und einen dritten Schritt (54), bei welchem eine Fehlermeldung ausgegeben wird, wenn die Wahrscheinlichkeit einen angegebenen Wert unterschreitet, umfasst. embedded image
