A statistic method of the media flow in NGN mainly includes that: at first, the application function (AF) initiates a statistic request of the media flow to the border gateway function (BGF), then, the BGF performs the statistic of the media flow according to the request of AF and returns the statistic information of the media flow to AF. The present invention can realize the accurate service billing and support the service billing based on the network resource usage and the QoS by using the accurate metering capability for the medial flow of BGF. Furthermore, the statistic start time and end time of the media flow, flow metering information and the actual QoS statistic information etc. can help to operate and maintain the network.

本发明涉及一种下一代网络(NGN)中媒体流的统计方法。主要包括:首先,由应用功能AF向边界网关控制功能BGF发起媒体流统计请求;之后,所述的BGF根据AF的请求进行媒体流信息的统计,并将统计的媒体流信息返回给AF。本发明使用BGF的媒体流精确计量能力,可以实现精确的业务计费,以及支持基于网络资源用量和服务质量的业务计费。而且,本发明统计的媒体流的开始时刻、结束时刻、流量计数信息、实际服务质量统计信息等,还有助于网络的运营和维护。
