Abstract
(EN)
A safety system for a vehicle comprises a controller fitted to a subject vehicle and sensor means operable to sense a distance of separation and relative velocity of a trailing vehicle. Also input to the controller is a velocity signal derived from a velocity sensing means determining the ground speed of the subject vehicle using a doppler radar system. The controller calculates a safety envelope and activates a visible warning device attached to the rear of the subject vehicle if the trailing vehicle penetrates the safety envelope. An enhanced safety envelope determined by adverse road conditions is also established, any inclusion into the enhanced envelope resulting generally in the visible warning being at a less prominent level. If however the closing speed of the trailing vehicle exceeds a predetermined threshold, penetration of the enhanced envelope results immediately in the full warning being displayed with full prominence to the driver of the trailing vehicle. The safety system of the invention has application to improving the safety of road vehicles.

车辆的安全系统,含有一个装在目标车辆(16)上的控制器和一个可检测与尾随车辆(18)相隔距离和相对速度的传感器(20),将来自采用多普勒雷达系统测定目标车辆的地速的速度检测装置(97)的速度信号输入到上述控制器中,该控制器就会算出一个安全范围,如果尾随车辆进入该安全范围内,就会启动固定在目标车辆后面的目视报警装置,也可根据不利的道路条件确定一个扩大的安全范围,如果尾随车辆进入该扩大的安全范围通常会发出不大强烈的目视报警信号,但是,如果尾随车辆的靠近速度超过一预定临界值,并进入扩大的安全范围时,便立即向尾随车辆的司机发出十分强烈的报警信号。本发明的安全系统可用于提高道路车辆的安全性。
