To provide a liquid crystal polymer with which it is possible to obtain a resin-molded article having excellent mechanical strength and a small linear expansion coefficient in the TD direction, while also having an equivalent or lower melt viscosity than the original liquid crystal polymer before introduction of a specific ionic structural unit. A liquid crystal polymer comprising: a structural unit (I) derived from an aromatic hydroxycarboxylic acid; a structural unit (II) derived from an aromatic diol compound; a structural unit (III) derived from an aromatic dicarboxylic acid; and a structural unit (IV) derived from an aromatic monomer having a metal salt-type ionic group and a polymerizable group.

本发明提供一种液晶聚合物,其是与特定的离子性构成单元导入前的原来的液晶聚合物同等或者更低熔融粘度,并且可得到TD方向的线膨胀系数小、机械强度优异的树脂成型品。本发明的液晶聚合物含有:来自芳香族羟基羧酸的构成单元(I)、来自芳香族二醇化合物的构成单元(II)、来自芳香族二羧酸的构成单元(III)、以及来自具有金属盐型的离子性基团和聚合性基团的芳香族单体的构成单元(IV)。
