The invention discloses a method and a device in a node used for wireless communication. The method comprises: a first node sending a first sequence and a first wireless signal; receiving a first signaling; receiving a second wireless signal; wherein the second wireless signal carries a first information block and a second information block, the first information block is used for determining X feature sequences, and X is a positive integer; wherein the second information block comprises X second-class sub-information blocks, and the X second-class sub-information blocks are in one-to-one correspondence with the X feature sequences; and if the first sequence is one of the X feature sequences, using at least one of the first signaling and the first information block for determining an information format of a second type of sub-information block corresponding to the first sequence in the X second type of sub-information blocks. According to the method provided by the invention, through re-interpreting the existing signaling, extra signaling overhead is avoided, and flexible switching between two-step random access and four-step random access is supported at the same time.
