The optical attenuator comprises modulating optical waveguides, each of the modulating optical waveguide comprises at least two electrode loops, the electrode loops comprise heating electrodes, the heating electrodes located on the same modulating optical waveguide are connected with the same voltage controlwire, and the heating electrode located on the same modulating optical waveguide are connected with the same grounding wire. By arranging at least two electrode loops on the modulating optical waveguides, when a certain electrode loop is damaged in the actual using process, heating can be conducted through other electrode loops, the attenuation amount of the attenuator is adjusted, the risks of the failing of components are greatly reduced to help to improve the yield of the optical attenuator, the reliability of a product is improved, the service life of the product is prolonged, the adjusting range of the optical attenuator is not affected, and the attenuation amount of the optical attenuator can also meet actual demands by changing the intensity of a voltage control signal.

本发明公开了一种光衰减器以及光衰减器的调节方法,该光衰减器包括调制光波导,调制光波导上设置有至少两个电极回路,电极回路包括加热电极;位于同一个调制光波导上的加热电极连接同一个电压控制线,位于同一个调制光波导上的加热电极连接同一个接地线。本发明在调制光波导上设置至少两个电极回路,在实际使用过程中,当某个电极回路损坏时,可以通过其他电极回路进行加热,调节光衰减器的衰减量,大大降低器件失效风险,有利于提高光衰减器的良率,提高产品可靠性,延长产品的使用寿命。而且,光衰减器的调节范围不会受到影响,通过改变电压控制信号的大小,同样能够使得光衰减器的衰减量满足实际的需求。
