Abstract
(EN) The present invention provides a water-soluble crosslinkable poly(oxyalkylene)~containing prepolymer. The crosslinkable poly(oxyalkylene)- containing copolymer prepolymer of the invention is prepared by reacting an amine-capped poly(oxyalkylene)~containing polyamide with a multifunctional compound having at least one one ethylenically unsaturated group and a function group coreactive with the capping amine groups of the amine-capped poly(oxyalkylene)-containing polyamide. The amine-capped poly(oxyalkylene)- containing polyamide is a copolymerization production of a mixture comprising: (a) at least one poly(oxyalkylene)diamine, (b) optionally at least one organic di~or poly-amine, (c) at least one dicarboxyl derivative, (d) optionally at least one polycarboxyl derivative, and (e) a carbodiimide. The crosslinkable poly(oxyalkylene)-containing prepolymer of the invention can find use in economically producing contact lenses which have improved thermal stability. In addition, the present invention provides method for making a medical device, preferably an ophthalmic device, more preferably a contact lens.
