Abstract:
(EN) An integrated, multimode FM radio system including a common reference clock (4) providing synchronized digital signal processing for both transmission (1) and reception (2). The radio system according to the present invention also includes a novel digital frequency synthesizer (3, 8, 9, 43, 44), a digital FM demodulator (17) and a digital FM modulator (16) which together provide improved FM modulation and demodulation fidelity thereby assuring interoperation with other radios in all analog and digital modulation formats, improved spectral purity and faster channel switching speed for the frequency hopping synthesizer (71), improved reliability through reduction in complexity, and reduction of radio production cost, including reduction in testing and adjustments needed for certification to radio emission standards.
