Son particularmente adecuados para usar en materiales de lentes intraoculares. Reivindicación 1: Un compuesto benzotriazol caracterizado por la fórmula (1) donde R1 = H, CH3, CH2CH3, o CH2OH; R2 = alquilo C1-4 o alcoxi C1-4; y R3 = H, CH3, CH3O, F, CI, Br, I, o CF3. Reivindicación 6: Un material de dispositivo oftálmico caracterizado porque comprende un compuesto benzotriazol de acuerdo con la reivindicación 1 y un monómero formador de dispositivo seleccionado entre el grupo integrado por monómeros de acrílico y monómeros que contienen silicona. Reivindicación 10: Un material de dispositivo oftálmico de acuerdo con la reivindicación 6, caracterizado porque el material de dispositivo oftálmico comprende un monómero formador de dispositivo de la fórmula (4) donde en la fórmula (4) A es H, CH3, CH2CH3, o CH2OH; B es (CH2)m o [O(CH2)2]z; C es (CH2)w; m es 2 -6; z es 1-10; Y es nada, O, S, o NR', con la condición de que si Y es O, S, o NR', entonces B es (CH2)m; R' es H, CH3, CnH2n+1 (n'= 1-10), iso-OC3H7, C6H5, o CH2C6H5; w es 0 - 6, con la condición de que m + w <= 8; y D es H, alquilo C1-4, alcoxi C1-4, C6H5, CH2C6H5 o halógeno.
